The Future is Bright

Hello Lifesong supporters!

As I’m sure is the case for all of you, the new year is flying by and it’s hard to believe we’re in the middle of February already.

2018 is an exciting year for the Lifesong Harmony School as we accepted between 50-60 more preschool students, bringing our total number of students to just under 550. That’s 550 children receiving an education, 2 meals a day, and the love of God! Beyond that, our first high school class began and our grade 7 students eagerly moved on to grade 8 after passing their entrance exams. Over the coming months we hope to begin construction on another high school building so our current grade 8 students can continue their education with us in January 2019.

Some other exciting news is that the construction on the girls’ home is incredibly close to being finished, and we have 25 young girls enrolled! They will be under the care of a retired teacher and all of their needs will be met. The support from all of you, our donors and prayer warriors, is undeniable in this entire process and we can’t wait to see how God works through this new outlet of our ministry.

Now, after hearing all of that, don’t you want to get involved? The good news is you can! We would love for you to come and visit us to see what God is doing in Zambia for yourself.  There are several work team opportunities this summer, starting off with a dental team in June. The goal is to assess each student’s oral hygiene, as well as to teach them how to brush their teeth and take care of their oral health. We will be raising funds so that every 6 months they can receive a new toothbrush and toothpaste. Then in July we have an education team coming out. Right now there are still lots of spots available, so if you are interested contact Andrew Sulja at for more information. Or, perhaps your skills would be better used on the construction team, planned to go in August. The goal for this team is to build the grade 9 classroom, as was mentioned above to start in January 2019. Also, be looking out for a possible visit to your church as the Lifesong staff will be traveling to various AC churches! These events will be set up as fundraisers as well as informative session so you can learn more about the ministry and get involved.

In closing, I want to share a little bit about one of our students, Eunice Kalunga. Eunice lives in the Chipata Compound with her Uncle and Aunt and she is very grateful for her education. What sticks out to me about Eunice is her gentle spirit and trust in God. In her biography she said, “my favourite Bible story is of Mary. She is an example to me of someone who had faith and looked up to God.” CLICK HERE to watch a video of Eunice sharing a little bit of her story and a message of thanks to the donors in North America. Her story is just one example of several resilient, dedicated, and passionate students who are able to continue their learning because of your support.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” We are confident that God has big plans for Eunice and all the other children of Chipata, and we thank you for choosing to be a part of their journey. The future truly is bright.
