The Fifty-50 Campaign is all about raising not only funds but also awareness for the work happening in Zambia. We have set quite a high goal and it’s only through spreading the word about the campaign that we can make it happen. The idea for the campaign came from Doug Ratz, one of our supporters who had visited the Lifesong school in Garneton to set up a computer lab. While visiting a second time, he toured the Lifesong Harmony School in Kitwe. Read his account below:
“Hello, my name is Doug Ratz and in 2018 I turn fifty. I asked myself, what should I do to mark the occasion? How about trying to raise money for a school in Zambia? What if people donated $50 and what if I aimed high, setting a goal of fifty thousand dollars?
In 2011 I travelled to Zambia as part of a team to work at the Lifesong for Orphans school near Kitwe. I set up a computer lab, which is still in use today. I returned in 2015 and while there toured the Lifesong Harmony School, which is run by Lifesong for Orphans (Canada). I was very excited to see the good work there, as well as all of the potential. I hope to return there one day to see the progress and use my skills to help out.
So, will you help out too? Will you donate $50, or whatever you are able, to help this school do good things for these children? Are you turning fifty? Will you take up the challenge, and spread the word of this project? Will you help me to reach the lofty goal of fifty thousand dollars?”
Help us reach our goal of $50,000. We have all of 2018 to reach the goal. Please note, all donations $20 and over will receive a tax receipt. Unless otherwise indicated (in the text box), your donation will go where most needed. 100% of your donation goes directly to help the need. Generous donors have agreed to underwrite our administrative and fundraising costs and all of our staff works on a volunteer basis. That means your donation will go further and every last cent of your donation will make its way to supporting the children in Zambia.
